When you are a little girl, you are taught that your life will be “complete” when you get married. “When you grow up you’ll get married and it will be the best day of your life”. Girls learn a long list of rules from the time we’re young that point us ever in the direction of finding a man and getting him to COMMIT. It takes a very long time to deprogram yourself from this garbage fairytale.
It’s 2017 and you’d think that people would wake up and stop telling this story to their daughters or nieces and instead encourage them to learn science or how to code or how to negotiate a raise but no. The Pink and White Bride Princess story is alive and well. And we don’t know what to do about it except to write songs like this.
